I’m finally getting around to adding my Mom on my Amazon Prime, and in lieu of an e-mail to her with some shopping tips I thought I’d turn it into a blog post.
First tip: only shop for Amazon Prime items to save shipping. Yes, some prices go up to offset the cost but overall its cheaper to go with Prime items. Here’s a guide on how to only see Amazon Prime items when you’re logged in to Amazon, you’ll find it on the left side and you’ll likely have to scroll down:
Second tip: trust the review system, but not too much. Never buy an item with less than 3 total reviews, and don’t worry about reading the reviews for casual shopping. If you have detailed questions about the product there’s really no need to look further than the description and the Customer Questions & Answers section.
Third tip: never buy anything rated under 4 stars. It’s just not worth the hassle for casual shopping. Here’s a guide on how to only see 4 star and above items when you’re shopping. you’ll find it on the left side and you’ll likely have to scroll down:
Last and maybe least: sign up for Amazon Smile! This is optional but highly recommended:
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization.
That’s it! Let me know if you have any questions, feel free to use the comments below for them.
